RIP, Cory Aquino (1933-2009)

Former President Cory Aquino passed away after a valiant battle against colon cancer. The world lost an icon to democracy, and the Philippines lost a role model and a beloved figure in her history.

GMANews.tv had interviewed her last year September in one of her last full-length interviews. You should have a look at it. She spoke in both English and Tagalog in the interview. There is also a nice "behind the scenes" section below the embedded video by those who had the chance to speak with her then. Click the photo below to access the page.

Her family has a website where you can leave your notes of condolences. If you click on the yellow ribbon, you will be taken to that page.

Lastly—the Filipino community in the Triangle (NC) area are planning a Mass of Remembrance for Tita Cory for next Saturday, August 8. The time and place are being negotiated, but we are hoping it will be at Immaculate Conception Church in the early afternoon. Watch this space as details become available.

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen.
