9 April - Maundy Thursday

This post will be back-dated - I've really delayed in getting this up.

Well, it begins - The Triduum.

Holy Week continues, and the Triduum begins: Maundy Thursday. This was a joint service between the Episcopal Centre at Duke University and St. Joseph's Episcopal Church. Numbers are out of The Hymnal 1982, unless otherwise indicated. Note: WLP = Wonder Love and Praise.

After the Opening Acclamation:
Trisagion: S-100 (New Plainsong; D. Hurd)
Hymns at the Washing of the Feet:
  • Antiphon 1: Mandatum (Mode III)
  • Antiphon 3: Dominus Jesus (Tone II)
  • Antiphon 5: Si ego Dominus (Tone V)
  • Antiphon 6: In hoc cognoscent (Mode VII)
  • Antiphon 7: Manenant in vobis (Mode VII)
  • WLP 831, Ubi caritas et amor (Taizé)

Sanctus: S-124 New Plainsong (D. Hurd)
Lord's Prayer: chanted (S-119 in Hymnal 1982)
Fraction Anthem: S 161 New Plainsong (D. Hurd)
Comm: 329, Now my tongue, the mystery telling (PANGE LINGUA)
Re: 171, Go to dark Gethsemane (PETRA)

As the altar is being stripped: Psalm 22 was read slowly, out of the Book of Common Prayer.

It continues tomorrow - Good Friday. I will have three music lists to post: two for Chapel of the Cross, as I will be singing with the Senior Choir for the Second and Third Hours, and then one for ECDU/St. Joseph's for their 6.00 pm service.
