The Rite of Ordination of a Deacon for Br. Ryan Z. Carnecer, CICM

Yesterday morning, at St. Eugene Catholic Church in Wendell, NC, His Excellency, The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, was the Principal Celebrant of a special Mass in which Br. Ryan Carnecer, CICM, was ordained a Transitional Deacon. He will be ordained a priest in the Philippines in May. Deacon Ryan tells me that he'll probably be sent back to the United States after his ordination, but as to where in the US...? Only time will tell.

With that, here is the list of music, with attributions as I was able to find them. Any numbers you see come out of GIA's Gather Comprehensive II (maroon cover). The organist was Jim Marshall (director of St. Eugene's Parish Choir), and the pianists were Alex Romero (director of St. Eugene's Hispanic Choir) and Myra Odulio (director of the NC Filipino Choir).

Prelude: selections from The Liturgical Organist (ed.: Carlo Rossini); Liturgical Dance to "You Raise Me Up" (Brendan Graham/Rolf Løvland)
Opening Hymn: 523, All Creatures of our God and King (LASST UNS ERFREUEN)
Gloria: 138, Mass of Creation (Haugen)
Psalm: Psalm 145 (Alstott: Respond and Acclaim)
Gospel Acclamation: Alstott setting
Offertory: Alma misionera ... I'm embedding a YouTube video of a performance of this piece below:

This piece was also accompanied by liturgical dance. Apparently, they're really big on liturgical dance at St. Eugene's.

Sanctus, Memorial Acclamation, Concluding Acclamation, Agnus Dei: (Alejandro Mejia)
Communion Hymns
  • Sa ‘Yo Lamang (Manoling Francisco, SJ)
  • Tanging Yaman (Manoling Francisco, SJ)
Closing Hymn: Lord, when you came to the seashore (PESCADOR DE HOMBRES)
Postlude: Panunumpa (J. Gonzalez, SJ)
